Fraud Alert: Protect Yourself from Phone Scams

FNB Community Bank has recently received reports from customers about scammers posing as members of our Fraud Department. In some cases, these callers are even able to make it appear as though they're calling from an FNB Community Bank phone number through a tactic known as caller ID spoofing.

While these calls may sound convincing, they're designed to steal your personal banking information.

How the Scam Works

You may receive a phone call claiming there's suspicious activity on your debit card or checking account. The caller may tell you they need to verify your identity or secure your account and then ask for sensitive information.

Even if your caller ID displays FNB Community Bank, the call may not actually be coming from us.

What FNB Community Bank Will Never Ask You For

Our Fraud Department may contact you if we detect suspicious activity, but we will never ask you to provide:

  • Your debit card PIN

  • Your Online Banking username or password

  • One-time verification or security codes

  • Your full debit card number

  • Other confidential banking credentials

If someone asks for any of this information over the phone, it's a red flag.

What You Should Do

If you notice debit card purchases or account transactions you don't recognize:

  1. Hang up if you're speaking with someone claiming to be from the bank.

  2. Call FNB Community Bank directly using a trusted phone number.

  3. Our team will verify the activity and help protect your account.

Think You've Been Affected?

If you believe you've provided information to a scammer or think your account may have been compromised, contact your local FNB Community Bank branch immediately or stop by in person.

Our team can help you:

  • Replace your debit card

  • Update your Online Banking username and password

  • Review your account for unauthorized activity

  • Take additional steps to secure your accounts

The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can help protect your financial information.

Stay Vigilant

Scammers continue to find new ways to impersonate trusted organizations, including community banks. If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts.

Remember: It's always okay to hang up and call FNB Community Bank directly. We'd much rather answer your call than have you become the victim of fraud.

Protecting our customers and our community has always been our priority. If you ever have questions about a phone call, text message, or email claiming to be from FNB Community Bank, don't hesitate to contact us directly before taking any action.
